In a recent social media post, Dele Momodu, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has stirred controversy by questioning the alleged political clout of former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike on the national stage. In his Instagram post titled "Power Drunkenness (PUN intended)," Momodu expressed concerns about Wike's purported actions during the 2023 presidential election and their effects on Nigerian democracy.

The seasoned journalist and businessman shocked many by claiming that Wike had offered substantial political support, including votes and financial backing, to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a key player in Nigerian politics. Momodu's post conveyed his alarm over what he sees as unchecked behavior that he believes harms the nation.

Citing a particular incident where a 56-year-old man insulted a 70-year-old woman on national television without any repercussions from the National Assembly, Momodu questioned the ethical standards governing political dialogue in Nigeria. He expressed astonishment at the state of affairs, lamenting how such events could occur without accountability. ( Photo credit : Arise Television Official Facebook Page )

"How many votes and how much money did this Wike man give Tinubu that he is allowing him to go on rampage, in Rivers, FCT and some other parts of Nigeria," Momodu queried in his post, reflecting public sentiment on the issue.

Additionally, Momodu warned against idolizing political figures solely based on their development projects, referring to Wike as "Mr. Projects." He emphasized the risks of unchecked power, stressing that no one should be above scrutiny or accountability. ( Photo credit : Channels Television Verified Facebook Page )
