Joshua Zirkzee, a forward for Bologna, and Matthijs de Ligt, a defender for Bayern Munich, have approved a transfer for Zirkzee to join Manchester United this summer.

Zirkzee's current deal contains a €40 million release clause, but De Ligt will set United back almost €50 million.

This Sunday on X, football transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano stated: "Both Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt have given their approval for Manchester United to join the team.

“Both players have spoken to Erik ten Hag with Man United now ready to advance on the club side in the coming days.

“It’s all approved on salary/commission also for Zirkzee.”

United’s transfer business has been delayed by uncertainty around manager Erik ten Hag’s future.

The former Ajax boss has now signed a contract extension at Old Trafford.

According to David Ornstein, Manchester United has overcome two of the final obstacles in its pursuit to recruit Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, but they are still considering a key component of the deal.

One of the key players on whom Manchester United is concentrating as they look to begin their new era this summer is Zirkzee. They have determined that the Bologna striker is the best option to challenge Rasmus Hojlund for the center-forward position after releasing Anthony Martial.
