Dr. Josef Onoh, former President Tinubu’s southeast spokesperson and current Chairman of Forum of Former Members of Enugu State House of Assembly (FOF-MENHA), explained that the Northern Elders Forum is angry with President Bola Tinubu because he personally chose his team instead of accepting names suggested by the Northern group.
He criticized the Northern Elders forum for ignoring the issue of out-of-school children in their region. Onoh noted that President Tinubu is working to address this problem and ensure that Northern children have access to education for a better future.
On the other hand, Onoh revealed that people in the South East are not bothered by President Tinubu's administration. They feel indifferent to the nation’s situation because they have never felt so excluded from political transitions in Nigeria since the civil war.
According to Onoh, the Northern Elders regret voting for President Bola Tinubu because he chose Kashim Shettima as Vice President, a bold and independent figure whom they fear goes against their selfish interests.
He continued, saying that the Northern Elders also regretted Tinubu's appointments of ministers from the North East, North West, and North Central regions, feeling it didn't serve their interests. Similarly, they were unhappy with Tinubu's choice of new Service Chiefs and Nuhu Ribadu as National Security Adviser.
Additionally, Onoh explained that Tinubu's administration neglected the South East, causing them to feel isolated and excluded. Despite this, they remain committed to a united Nigeria.
