Gaza Strip: Israel close to eliminating Hamas – Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, on Monday, said Israel was close to completing the phase of eliminating the military capabilities of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu said strikes on Hamas remnants will continue.

Speaking during a meeting with students, the Prime Minister assured that Israel will achieve all its military goals.

According to Netanyahu: “Yesterday, I returned from a tour of the Gaza division’s location, I saw great achievements in the battles fought in Rafah.

Police kill two bandits in Benue

The Benue State Police Command, said operatives of Operation Zenda neutralised two bandits in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of the state.

According to the statement released by the command, operatives of Operation Zenda stormed the hideout of the bandits located at Tse Uza, Mbatyula Council Ward in Katsina-Ala LGA, and upon arrival at the camp, they engaged the bandits in a gun duel.

“Two of the bandits received gunshot injuries. They have been confirmed dead by a doctor and their corpses deposited at the General Hospital, Ukum, while other suspects escaped,” the statement disclosed.

Items recovered from them include two pistols loaded with ammunition, three locally made short guns, 13 motorcycles, camouflage uniforms, six walkie-talkies, one Toyota Corolla and one tricycle.

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has vowed to confront the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in response to comments challenging his contributions to democracy. Speaking on Channels Television, Sani accused Wike of evading direct responses by speaking last at events. He emphasized the importance of their past struggles against military rule, suggesting Wike owes his political career to those efforts. Despite clarifying that Wike's comments were not aimed solely at him, Sani affirmed his readiness to engage Wike directly at future events.

NAF Helicopter Crashes in Kaduna

A Nigerian Air Force helicopter crashed in Tami community, Kaduna State's Igabi Local Government Area early Monday morning, with the pilot reportedly surviving. The incident, occurring around 5 am, drew locals to the wreckage site upon hearing a loud sound. Details on the crash are awaited.
