Nigeria Records 1,702 Murder Cases, 2,149 Kidnappings, and 320 Robbery Cases in 2023

According to Punch, According to a report by Statisense, a data collection organization, the Nigeria Police Force recorded a total of 1,702 murder cases, 2,149 kidnappings, and 320 robbery cases across the country in 2023.

The North Central region had the highest number of reported murder cases, with 436 incidents, followed by the North-West with 417 cases, and the North-East with 345 cases.

Plateau State had the highest number of murder cases with 230 incidents, followed by Taraba with 155 cases, and Kaduna with 139 cases.

The report also showed that the North-West had the highest number of kidnapping cases with 759 incidents, followed by the North Central with 476 cases, and the North-East with 408 cases.

Kaduna State had the highest number of kidnapping cases with 310 incidents, followed by Taraba with 200 cases, and Zamfara with 160 cases.

The South-West had the highest number of robbery cases with 107 incidents, followed by the North Central with 54 cases, and the South-South with 53 cases.

Lagos State had the highest number of robbery cases with 32 incidents, followed by Oyo with 31 cases, and the FCT with 22 cases.

Security experts have called for stiffer punishments to serve as a deterrent to checkmate the rising crime rate in the country.
