According to the report from the Vanguard, Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, recently shared that his dedication to Nigeria’s industrialization is the primary reason he owns no properties outside the country. Speaking during a media parley at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, Dangote disclosed that he once owned a house in London but sold it in 1996.

He explained, “The reason I don’t have a London or America house is solely because I wanted to focus on industrialization in Nigeria.” He added that owning properties abroad could lead to distractions, saying, “I figured that if I had those houses, there will be one reason or the other for me to visit those places thereby causing distraction for me.”

Dangote emphasized his commitment to the Nigerian dream, noting, “I am very passionate about the Nigeria dream and apart from my Lagos house, I have another one in my home state Kano and a rented one in Abuja.”

Fatima Dangote, Group Executive Director of Commercial Operations, praised her father’s unwavering commitment to Nigeria. She remarked, “I have not seen anyone as hardworking as my father, sometimes I wonder how he never gives up.”

She further expressed her admiration, stating, “I wish we had a few more men like my father in Nigeria, the country would be a better place.”

Through his remarks, Dangote reinforced his vision for a prosperous and industrialized Nigeria, demonstrating that his personal sacrifices are driven by a deep-seated commitment to national development.
