Arsenal ‘set to announce’ first signing with second target ‘open’ to Emirates switch

According to The Sun, Arsenal has activated the £27m purchase option in their loan agreement with Brentford, making David Raya a permanent Gunner. The 28-year-old impressed last season, replacing Aaron Ramsdale as Mikel Arteta's first-choice goalkeeper.

Ramsdale, meanwhile, is linked with a move away from the Emirates in search of more playing time. Chelsea and Wolves have shown interest in the England international, who is currently at Euro 2024.

Arsenal is building a squad to win the Premier League title, and signing Raya is a key step. The club is also interested in Riccardo Calafiori, a versatile defender who can play center-back or left-back. Calafiori is a target for Juventus, but Arsenal would need to pay around £40m to secure his signature.

Bologna, Calafiori's current club, wants to keep him, and a big fee would be required to let him go. Arsenal is also considering Espanyol's Joan Garcia as a replacement for Ramsdale.

The Gunners are working hard on transfers, aiming to bolster their squad for the coming season. With Raya's permanent signing imminent, Arsenal is taking a crucial step towards building a title-winning team.
