In a pivotal announcement, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has initiated a state of emergency on crude oil production to address critical challenges hindering output.

Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer, emphasized this stance during the 23rd Nigeria Oil and Gas Conference in Abuja.

According to Daily Post, Kyari asserted the company's readiness for a proactive strategy, stating, "We have declared war on the challenges affecting our crude oil production. War means war."

He highlighted that operational hurdles, such as procurement delays, are obstructing production potential despite existing infrastructure capable of yielding up to two million barrels daily.

Immediate actions outlined include the replacement of aging pipelines and the implementation of a rig-sharing program aimed at optimizing production resources within the country.

Additionally, Kyari underscored plans to bolster midstream gas infrastructure, aligning with national initiatives like the compressed natural gas (CNG) drive.

The NNPC leader called for industry-wide collaboration to streamline production costs and enhance efficiency, urging stakeholders to unify efforts towards achieving sustainable output levels.
