According to Channels Television, Senator Adams Oshiomhole has expressed strong confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC) securing a democratic victory. Speaking on Friday at the unveiling of the APC 2024 Edo Governorship Election Campaign Council committees in Benin, Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North and is a former governor of the state, emphasized the party’s commitment to a fair and peaceful electoral process.

“We want to win this election democratically. No mago mago, no wuruwuru, no violence,” Oshiomhole stated, using local terms for cheating and deceit. “We campaign for peaceful change of government; that is what democracy is about.”

The event saw the announcement of the leadership of 36 committees within the campaign council, underlining the party’s organizational readiness for the election. Oshiomhole’s remarks aimed to assure both party members and the public of the APC's intention to adhere to democratic principles throughout the electoral process.

The campaign council’s Director General, Senator Matthew Uroghide, echoed Oshiomhole's call for unity and inclusivity within the party. He stressed the importance of every party member’s contribution, regardless of whether they were officially listed in the campaign committees.

“Please, all of us must work together. If there is any problem, please, come to me. Any party problem, come to me. Anything that has to do with this campaign, come to me. Everybody is important,” Uroghide urged, emphasizing collective effort over individual recognition.

He reiterated that, in the campaign for the Edo governorship, all party members should consider themselves integral to the campaign council. “Senator Oshiomhole has already said it: all of us are in the campaign council, whether your name is there or not, you are a member of the campaign council. So please, we must all work together to win this election,” Uroghide added.
