Police Nab Car Thief, Housebreaker in Niger, Anambra

Police in Niger say they have succeeded in arresting a security guard, 34-year-old Henry Musa with a suspected Toyota Camry car with registration number 'LND 851 CJ' stolen from Anambra state in Niger State.

The suspect according to the report, was seen at Dikko, along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway in the Tafa area of Niger State with duplicate copies of the document to sell the vehicle.

The spokesman of the police, Superintendent Wasi'u Abiodun said, the incident occurred on July 2 at about, 8:30 am based on credible information received.

According to him, police operatives of the Division were quickly mobilised to the area and the suspect was taken into custody with the vehicle. 

During interrogation, he confessed that he was a security man in a hotel at Awka and that the key of the vehicle was entrusted to him by the owner, he decided to take the vehicle away and was taken to Dikko in order to dispose of it.

However, the suspect is under investigation and he will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for further investigation and prosecution immediately after the investigations

Similarly, Abiodun confirmed that they have also arrested 20-year-old Ndaba Zhirin for armed robbery and housebreaking in the Doko area.

The police spokesman added that the incident occurred on June 25 at about 7:00 am when an incident of housebreaking and robbery was reported at Doko Division that some suspected armed robbers broke into the residence of a businessman in Doko, and made away with handsets, recharge cards meant for sale, and money of over three hundred thousand naira.

Police operatives of the Division who had commenced investigation into the robbery, swung into action and arrested the suspect. 

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime as one handset and recharge cards were recovered from him though, he has been charged in court. 

He mentioned one other accomplice at large with efforts ongoing to apprehend the fleeing member.
