Police in Kisumu managed to stop protestors from marching to the State Lodge during Tuesday's protests.

In videos seen today, the protestors were gearing to march to the State Lodge where the police barricaded the road denying them access.

However, despite the protestors being large in number, the police were able to contain the crowd.

Additionally, the protests were deemed peaceful as the protestors later retreated after chanting for a while next to the barrier erected by the officers.

The videos also depicted a relatively calm police force. No gunshots were fired. Similarly, no teargas was lobbed to disperse the protestors.

In another section of Kisumu however, goons were caught on camera vandalising a supermarket in Nyalenda.

The goons masquerading as protestors climbed on top of the building and forced their way into the private property.

Additionally, the looters made away with goods from the supermarket and later fled from the scene.

In the neighbouring county of Kisii, chaos erupted as protestors engaged the police in running battles.

The protestors who had taken to the streets earlier in the morning engaged the police while making chants.

However, the situation escalated as the protestors eventually lit bonfires within the town.

Over the course of the day, protests broke out across several towns. Many instances of businesses being looted and property being vandalised were reported.
