According to the report from the Sun, The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party has indefinitely postponed the inauguration of the Dr. Sam Amadi-led electoral reform committee.

The Labour Party had previously announced a 20-member committee tasked with reviewing electoral terms ahead of the 2027 general elections. However, a press release from National Publicity Secretary Obiora Ifo on Wednesday countered the inauguration plan, attributing the delay to unforeseen circumstances.

Ifo stated, "This is to inform members of the public that the inauguration of the Electoral Reform Committee earlier scheduled to hold on Thursday, July 4, 2024, has been postponed till further notice due to unforeseen circumstances, A new date will be announced soon. The composition of the membership is still as announced earlier. The Labour Party, however regrets any inconveniences."

The Labour Party has assured the public that a new date for the inauguration will be communicated in due course.
