Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, recently addressed concerns over financial irregularities involving former governor Yahaya Bello, advising him to confront the allegations transparently. Ortom's message stressed the significance of accountability in governance and urged Bello not to tarnish the reputation of former governors. According to Daily Post, he urged Bello to cooperate with the EFCC without hesitation and emphasized the importance of facing the accusations head-on.

Speaking directly to Bello, Ortom conveyed a tone of concern and admonition, advising him not to disgrace former governors and to approach the EFCC with dignity and honesty. Ortom highlighted the urgency of the situation, encouraging Bello to address the allegations promptly instead of evading responsibility. He emphasized the need for Bello to respect the legal process and cooperate with the EFCC, an institution tasked with upholding the law.

Ortom revealed his attempts to contact Bello directly, stressing the importance of complying with the legal proceedings. Despite being unable to reach Bello, Ortom stressed the necessity for him to present himself before the EFCC to clarify the situation. He reiterated that Bello should not hide or resist arrest, but instead, explain his side of the story to the authorities.

He reassured Bello that the EFCC personnel are individuals performing their duties and should be approached with respect. He emphasized the existence of laws governing inquiries and encouraged Bello to adhere to them. Ortom expressed his concern for Bello's whereabouts and urged him to heed his advice, even if he is unable to communicate directly. In closing, Ortom reiterated his message, imploring Bello to heed the call to accountability and transparency. He emphasized that regardless of Bello's location, he should understand the gravity of the situation and present himself before the EFCC.

Hear him: "Let me use this opportunity to advise my younger brother and friend, former governor Yahaya Bello not to disgrace former governors. If you are called to come and account for your stewardship by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, go there. You do not need to hide from EFCC, you do not need to resist arrest or anything. Go there and explain. EFCC are human beings who are doing their work. If they are making inquiries, the laws are there. I have tried to get him (Yahaya Bello) on phone, I could not, I tried those around him, I could not. I want him to note, wherever he is, if he can hear me from there, he should go before the EFCC."
