The Grade A Customary Court in Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, has postponed judgement on the divorce suit brought before it by Omobosola against her husband, Siji. Omobosola accuses Siji of neglect, abuse, and irresponsibility, citing a distressing tale of enduring poverty and domestic abuse as grounds for divorce.
She recounts delivering their four children at home due to financial constraints and resorting to farming to sustain their family. Despite her efforts, she endured severe beatings and emotional neglect from Siji, prompting her to leave their shared residence. According to NIGERIAN TRIBUNE reports, Omobosola further said that she was ill for 12 years and almost died after Siji took her to a strange man who afflicted her with a strange illness.
Siji, on the other hand, denies the allegations of abuse but agrees to the dissolution of their marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. He said, "My family members have never been in support of my marriage to my wife". He attributes their marital discord to Omobosola's alleged misconduct and his decision to take a second wife as a contributing factor to the breakdown of their marriage, which Omobosola vehemently opposed. With both parties presenting conflicting narratives, the court president, Mrs. S.M Akintayo, has adjourned the case for judgment.
