Kisii County Senator Richard Onyonka has been the talk of the nation after his recent speech in the Senate House. In his more than 15 Minutes speech, the Azimio Senator pointed out to the fact that the Gen Z movement is a powerful one that cannot be ignored by the Government. He even described the Gen Z's as the new sheriffs in town.
According to Onyonka, the excessive spending witnessed by the political class is what is making the young people enraged. ''The problems in Kenya have not been started by William Ruto if you look at the history.'' Argued the vocal politician during his submission in the Senate.
The senator went further to argue that those in the political class have failed the people and that is why things have become tough. ''We have completely failed our people and that is why when you look at the crisis and the issues that have come up you realize that we are on quick sand.''
Among the issues that Senator Onyonka addressed in his speech that has become an online sensation is the fact that politicians showcase frivolous lifestyles yet the ordinary citizens are suffering. ''Do we need all the people who have been given offices? Why are county Governors running county Government as if they are private companies? When did we decide that I must drive a car which is 4.8cc when our children don't have medicines.''
Kenyans on different social media platforms have lauded Senator Onyonka's speech and even one joked and insisted that the speech should be made the national anthem. Taking it to her official X page, youthful politician Pauline Njoroge did state that every Kenyan should actually listen to the speech.
