Police arrest 3 cultists responsible for killings in Ekiti

According to a report by Daily post news on Thursday, 04, 07, 2024, In a decisive move against criminal activities, particularly recent attacks by cultists in Ado-Ekiti that left four individuals dead and instilled fear in the community, the Ekiti State Police Command has apprehended a key member of the gang responsible.

Acting on credible intelligence, operatives arrested Olanipekun Lateef, alias Lati Olorifunfun, in Ode-Ekiti.


During interrogation, Lateef, identified as a member of the Eiye secret cult, confessed to his involvement in several recent assaults in Ado-Ekiti. He revealed that the attacks were in retaliation for the killing of a fellow cult member by the Black Axe Aiye confraternity on May 27, 2024.


Following his confession, Lateef led officers from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) to Agbeniyi Bunmi, a female accomplice. Bunmi admitted to having handled and transferred two guns used in the operations to the cult's armorer, Ademola Adejugbe, also known as Oba.

Adejugbe was subsequently apprehended, and a search of his premises led to the recovery of a cut-to-small-size locally made single-barrel gun and a double-barrel gun hidden inside a sack.


The police have intensified efforts to arrest other fleeing members of the gang involved in the violent incidents.
