Independent Petroleum Marketers Call for Increased Fuel Allocation to Curb Queues

According to a report from DAILY POST, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has urged the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to increase fuel allocation to its members in a bid to alleviate the persistent fuel queues at filling stations across the country.

In an interview with reporters on Friday, IPMAN's National Vice President, Alhaji Hammed Fasola, stated that the ongoing fuel scarcity is a direct result of the low allocation of petroleum products to independent marketers.

"If members of IPMAN get the product directly from NNPC, the price per liter will be affordable for Nigerians and the queues will reduce," Fasola said.

According to Fasola, IPMAN members are currently forced to sell petrol at higher prices compared to other major marketers or depot owners because they are forced to acquire the product from third parties at exorbitant rates.

"It is not that we don't get at all, we are getting a little, and when you compare our number in this sector; our members own 80 per cent of the filling stations," Fasola explained.
