According to DAILY POST, Police operatives from the Katsina Police Command successfully foiled two separate kidnapping attempts in Faskari and Malumfashi Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Katsina State on May 8th and 9th, 2024.

According to ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, the first incident occurred on May 8th when hoodlums barricaded the Funtua-Gusau Road near Unguwar Boka village in Faskari LGA. They targeted three passengers travelling in a Golf III motor vehicle, using gunfire to halt the vehicle.

However, a rapid response patrol team led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Faskari engaged the bandits in a gunfight, rescuing all three passengers unharmed. The criminals, suspected to have been wounded, fled the scene, and a search is underway to apprehend them.

Similarly, on May 9th at around 12:45 am, the Katsina Police responded to a distress call about an attack on Gidan-Maga village in Malumfashi LGA. Armed bandits wielding AK-47 rifles had kidnapped ten residents and stolen sixteen cows.

The DPO of Malumfashi swiftly mobilized officers to the scene, and in a fierce gun battle, the police team overpowered the bandits, securing the release of all ten kidnapped victims and recovering the sixteen stolen cows. The wounded criminals retreated following the confrontation.

The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the officers for their bravery and professionalism in both operations. He reiterated the Command's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the people of Katsina State.
