According to Vanguard News, women from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have protested against the alleged attacks on Senator Ireti Kingibe by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The protest, which took place over the weekend at the Unity Fountain Arena in the Maitama District, saw the women marching to the Presidential Villa, demanding that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu intervene and put an end to the harassment.

The demonstration comes amid growing political tensions in the FCT, where Senator Kingibe has been at odds with Wike over governance and representation issues. Zainab Abubakar, the leader of the protesting group, emphasized the women's support for Kingibe.

"We have observed with keen interest the unprovoked and constant attacks on our democratically elected representative, Senator Ireti Kingibe, by FCT Minister Barrister Nyesom Wike. We strongly object to such onslaughts, humiliation, and intimidation. Have we forgotten the importance of women in society and the need to respect them?" Abubakar said.

Abubakar further called on all women in Abuja to stand against Wike’s actions, expressing concern over who might be targeted next.

Ify Jacobs, a women coordinator from Bwari Area Council, noted that the conflict between Senator Kingibe and Minister Wike is hindering the city’s progress. She urged Wike to allow Senator Kingibe to perform her duties without unnecessary interference.
