For You to be a Member, Your Name Must be on APC Register, Not by Swearing an Affidavit—Cletus Obun

In a recent interview with Arise TV, Cletus Obun, a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), reiterated the importance of the party register in determining membership. Obun, a foundation member of the APC, stressed that merely swearing an affidavit in court or holding a press conference does not constitute membership.

The party's constitution, according to Obun explicitly states that one's name must be on the register to be considered a legitimate member. He emphasised that no court of law in Nigeria can declare someone a member of the APC, highlighting the significance of the party register as the sole proof of membership.

According to him, "What is happening in Rivers State would have, by now, I expect the national assembly would have taken over the House of Assembly in Rivers State. First of all, the 27 people who came and made proclamations on television and at press conferences saying that they're members of the APC I'm a foundation member of APC; joining APC cannot even be declared by a court. No court of law in Nigeria can make you a member of a political party, especially the APC, that I know of. I know the constitution well. For you to be a member, your name must be on the world 'register'', not by press conference or swearing an affidavit in court, which can make you a member of APC."
