No Going Back on Yahaya Bello’s Prosecution

Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu has dethroned 15 district heads over allegations of insubordination, land racketeering, aiding insecurity, and misuse of public properties. The announcement was made by the governor's press secretary, Abubakar Bawa, citing haphazard appointments and rejection by their subjects as reasons for their removal. Additionally, cases involving four other district heads are under investigation. Some officials were transferred or deployed to different positions, while others were retained by the government. The actions were based on recommendations from a government committee tasked with reviewing appointments of traditional rulers.

FAAN reopens Lagos runway after Dana incident

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) reopened runway 18L/36R at Lagos airport after a Dana Air aircraft overshot the runway during landing. FAAN's emergency response team swiftly evacuated the aircraft and cleared the runway of debris to ensure safety. The runway was inspected and deemed safe for operations by FAAN and NAMA. FAAN expressed gratitude for stakeholders' patience and cooperation and apologized for any inconvenience. FAAN reaffirmed commitment to safety and efficiency in air transport.

Report any soldier torturing civilians over dreadlock – Gen Diya

Brigadier Gen. Olusola Diya, the Bridge Commander of 14 Brigade Ohafia, emphasized the need for the public to report any soldier or military personnel who torture civilians with dreadlocks, stressing that having a dreadlock is not illegal. He condemned the alleged torture to death of a hotel staff in Umuahia and assured that the soldiers involved are in custody and will face trial. Gen. Diya urged media practitioners and bloggers to use social media to report unprofessional conduct by military personnel. The seminar aimed to promote peace and enhance the relationship between the Nigerian Army and civilians, urging influencers to avoid spreading harmful content.
