According to reports from Soccernet.ng, French President Emmanuel Macron was recently photographed alongside former Super Eagles star Taye Taiwo during a charitable football tournament.

The retired Super Eagles defender concluded his national team career in 2012 after starting his international journey with the Nigeria U-20 squad at the FIFA World Youth Championship.

Taiwo made a recent appearance at a charity match organized by the foundation of the First Lady of France on Wednesday. The aim of the charity event was to raise funds for children and teenagers in hospitals.

During his active playing days, Taiwo shared the field with renowned footballers like Real Madrid's Eden Hazard and Chelsea's Didier Drogba. President Macron also participated in the event, showcasing his football skills and scoring a goal.

Taiwo's presence at the event attracted attention as many had been curious about his activities in recent years. Following a successful stint in France, Taiwo's career experienced a downturn, leading to his absence from the spotlight.

Despite not officially announcing his retirement, Taiwo, aged 39, has been away from professional football for nearly two years. He parted ways with Finnish club Salon Palloilijat in June 2022 after his last appearance for the team.
