Former Senate President Adolphus Wabara reiterated his claim of turning down a N250 million bribe offered to support the controversial third-term agenda during former President Olusegun Obasanjo's administration.

According to the report by Punch on Tuesday, when questioned about the veracity of this claim, Wabara firmly stated, "That's very correct."

In a recent interview on the YouTube series "Untold Stories with Adesuwa," Wabara provided context to the political climate of that time, stating that he didn't believe the rumors of N50 million being distributed to Senators to support the third-term agenda.

He maintained his stance even when pressed further by the interviewer.

The former Senate President also clarified the circumstances surrounding his departure from office, stating, "I was not removed by Obasanjo, I resigned."

When the interviewer suggested there might have been pressure for his resignation, Wabara countered, "No, there was even no pressure."

Wabara stressed the importance of rejecting the third-term agenda, saying that it was crucial for the preservation of democracy in Nigeria.

He said he believes that if he and others had supported the third term, it would have led to dictatorship and tyranny, and would have prevented the emergence of leaders like President Buhari and President Tinubu.

He added, "Without people like us, there wouldn't be democracy now. If we had supported the third term, you know, I mean we would have had dictatorship, tyranny, and people like Buhari wouldn't have emerged.

"Even the present Tinubu would not have emerged because Obasanjo would have still been there."
