Former Senator Olaka Nwogu cited a key court decision in an interview with Arise News to bolster his claims regarding the Rivers State Assembly predicament. Nwogu cited a Federal High Court decision from January that held that Oko-Jumbo's predecessor, Edison Ehie, was never duly elected to the position of Speaker.

According to Nwogu, the court's ruling confirmed Amaewhule's legitimacy as the legitimate leader of the Assembly and validated all of his acts. Nwogu hinted that this decision validates Amaewhule's leadership and undercuts Oko-Jumbo's aspirations to the speakership.

By citing the court's ruling, Nwogu hopes to thwart Oko-Jumbo's attempts to exert control and strengthen the legal foundation for Amaewhule's authority.

In his words;

"There was a ruling a January by a Federal High Court where it was expressly ruled. The ruling of the Court was that Edison Ehie who was the predecessor of Oko-Jumbo, was never a speaker and all the acts of Amaewhule are legal and valid"
