Transition Committee Insists Abure Must Resign

The leadership tussle of the Labour Party escalated on Tuesday, June 25, as the Labour Party National Transition Committee (LPNTC) demanded the resignation of the party chairman, Julius Abure.

The labour leaders, who stormed the venue of the meeting of the National Working Committee of the party in Abuja convened by its former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, insisted that the tenure of Abure and others would expire by the end of this month.

The chairman of the committee, Comrade Abdulwahed Omar said the committee would “either we find our way forward or we make our way forward.”

Tinubu Congratulates Chief Of Staff, Gbajabiamiala

President Bola Tinubu has commended his Chief of Staff, Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila, for his diligence, high sense of responsibility, patriotic zeal, and commitment to the common good.

The President made the statement while congratulating the Chief of Staff on his 61st birthday.

“Honourable Gbajabiamila, 61 years, a statesman and prolific public administrator,” is a lawyer who previously served as the Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023.


Shettima Pays Condolence Visit To Ganduje

Vice President Kashim Shettima, on Tuesday, paid a condolence visit to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, over the death of his mother-in-law, Asiya Gauyama.

Gauyama, died on Monday, was the mother of Hafsat Umar Ganduje, the wife of Ganduje.

Shettima, who also lost his mother-in-law in the ancient city, appeared to have cut short his private schedule in the city to commiserate with Ganduje.


Edo State Assembly Recalls Suspended Member

The Edo State House of Assembly has recalled the member representing Orhionmwon South constituency, Bright Iyamu, who was suspended along with two others on May 6, 2024 over an alleged plot to impeach the Speaker and other principal officers of the House.

Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku announced the decision at plenary in Benin City, explained that the recalled member showed remorse.

The House plenary session at the Anthony Enahoro Complex of the Edo State House of Assembly commenced with Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku announces that the May 6, 2024 suspension of one of three legislators has been lifted.
