In a recent statement, Igwe Gerald Obunadike Mbamalu, the Eze Oranyelu 1 of Ojoto in Anambra State, has expressed his views on the economic challenges facing Nigeria, during an interview with The Sun.

According to the monarch, President Bola Tinubu need to gather a capable team to tackle these economic issues effectively.

Igwe Mbamalu also supported the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) demand for a new minimum wage, citing the differences between current wages and the economic realities.

The monarch also addressed the role of traditional rulers in national discourse, explaining their often cautious approach to certain national matters.

On the changes of national anthem, he questioned the cost-effectiveness of such upgrades and suggested similar to the cost of governance.

"When we were singing the initial anthem which President Tinubu has brought back, the official car of government officials was Peugeot 504, but now government official cars are SUVs. The way they changed the national anthem, they should also reduce the cost of governance," he said.
