A violent clash erupted in Akure, Ondo State, between the state's security outfit, Amotekun, and a group of Fulani herdsmen. The confrontation occurred when Amotekun operatives enforced the state's anti-open grazing law, seizing over 120 cows and arresting their herders for illegal grazing and destroying tomato farms.

The situation escalated when the herdsmen attacked the Amotekun personnel, leaving several injured. The Amotekun Corps retaliated by firing shots into the air to disperse the attackers and retreated to their offices. The injured officers are receiving medical attention.

The incident highlights the ongoing conflict between herders and farmers in the region, with the government committed to enforcing the law to protect the interests of farmers. The state commander of Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the attack, stating that his officers were attacked with stones, bottles, daggers, and guns. The government has pledged to continue enforcing the law to ensure peaceful coexistence between herders and farmers.
