Rivers: I'm Ashamed That You Have Lawyers Who Are Not Parties To The Suit Commenting — Chidi Lloyd

Chidi Lloyd, a former Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area in Rivers State, has expressed his dissatisfaction with certain lawyers who have been providing public commentary on a recent Appeal Court decision.

Speaking in an interview on TVC News, he emphasised that their views are unnecessary since they were not involved in the case or submitted any legal documents.

Lloyd criticised these legal professionals for their unsolicited opinions, noting that they had no direct role in the judicial process.

He also condemned parts of the media for giving these lawyers a platform to air their views, which he believes is only worsening the situation.

Lloyd pointed out that the comments from these lawyers, who have no stake in the case, are inappropriate and unhelpful.

Furthermore, Lloyd shed light on the origins of the ongoing dispute in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

He recalled that the controversy began after the state assembly was bombed. During that period, there were no discussions about the assembly's leadership or the status of its members.

According to Lloyd, this bombing incident marked the beginning of the current turmoil.

Lloyd also mentioned Honourable Martins Amaewhule's role in the aftermath of the bombing. He stated that Amaewhule had suspended Honourable Edison Ehie, who had allegedly declared their seats vacant immediately following the bombing.

This action, Lloyd noted, contributed to the ongoing tension and disputes within the assembly.

In his remarks, Lloyd criticised both the lawyers and the media for their roles in escalating the issue. He argued that the involvement of lawyers who were not part of the case, combined with the media's amplification of their comments, has only served to complicate matters further.

Lloyd said, "I'm ashamed that you have lawyers who are not parties to the suit running commentaries on a matter. They are not part of the suit, and neither did they file any processes. It does appear that part of the media are also causing the problem by giving them the audience.

"Now we need to understand certain things. This whole issues started after the state assembly was bombed; there was no commentary as to who was speaker or who has lost his seat.

"The Assembly sat on a Monday, and they immediately suspended the House Leader, Honourable Edison Ehie, and two others. The leadership of the House under Martin Amaewhule accused Edison Ehie of being part of the bombing plot of the state assembly."
