According to the report from the Vanguard, AHEAD of the upcoming governorship election on September 21, the Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, recently inaugurated a 363-member campaign council where Governor Godwin Obaseki criticized the Legacy Group, describing them as a "sheep without a shepherd." The Legacy Group of the PDP in Edo is led by National Vice Chairman, South-South, Dan Orbih.

Governor Obaseki accused members of the Legacy Group of being backed by the opposition and asserted that the PDP would triumph in the election without their support. He emphasized the strength of the party, stating, "we are one party, one indivisible party in Edo State." Obaseki warned those aligning with the opposition that the PDP was united and determined to succeed, saying, "We are not going to allow anybody to divide us."

He further declared, "We will fight them if they try us," emphasizing the PDP's resolve to overcome any challenges. Obaseki expressed confidence that the PDP had the best candidate and programs for the people of Edo State, asserting that the election victory was assured.

The governor commended the hardworking members of the campaign council, predicting that they would secure at least 80% of the total votes in the election. Obaseki highlighted the importance of offering hope to the citizens of Edo State, noting the progress made by the PDP in improving the state's situation.

The campaign council's structure was designed to cover all 192 wards across the state, ensuring every part of the party was represented. The council, led by Director-General Matthew Iduoriyekenmwen, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the party and pledged to lead the PDP to victory in September.

Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the PDP governorship candidate, expressed his appreciation to party members and leaders for their trust in his leadership. He acknowledged Governor Obaseki's foundational work across various sectors and pledged to build upon it for the state's progress.
