In a bid to resolve the protracted issue surrounding Nnamdi Kanu's detention, South-East governors have embarked on a diplomatic route.

Following a meeting in Enugu, governors Hope Uzodinma, Dr. Alex Otti, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, and others disclosed plans to engage the federal government for Kanu's release.

According to Daily Post, Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), expressed readiness for an out-of-court settlement concerning his terrorism-related trial.

Meanwhile, 50 members of Nigeria's House of Representatives urged President Bola Tinubu to employ constitutional provisions to secure Kanu's release, emphasizing the need for peace in the Southeast.

Echoing this sentiment, Labour Party's Peter Obi called for adherence to the rule of law and Kanu's bail orders.

Constitutional lawyer Madubuachi Idam supported Kanu's initiative for reconciliation, deeming it a rational approach to address grievances peacefully.

Idam advocated for Kanu's release, highlighting its potential to mitigate Southeast insecurity.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo emphasized a political resolution, stressing that Kanu symbolizes broader Southeast concerns, including electoral marginalization.

Conversely, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum emphasized legal due process for Kanu, urging clarity on his legal status.

AYCF President Yerima Shettima proposed constitutional amendments to accommodate self-determination, underscoring international norms.

Shettima cautioned against criminal elements exploiting the Biafra cause, suggesting they have overridden Kanu's influence.
