Elder statesman and National Leader of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum, Chief Edwin Clark, has commented on the political crisis in Rivers State between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and former Governor Nyesom Wike.

In a recent report by Punch, Clark emphasized his long history and involvement in the state's creation. He stated that he and Chief Harold Dappa-Biriye were instrumental in the formation of Rivers State.

Clark criticized Wike for trying to maintain control over the political structures in Rivers State, reminding everyone that these structures have existed and been managed by various governors over time. He stressed that these political frameworks are not the property of any single individual but belong to the state as a whole

In Clark's words: "Wike was not yet born when Rivers was created. I participated in the creation of the state under (Chief Harold) Dappa-Biriye when the war took place, and the Midwest was invaded by the Biafrans. Rivers State was invaded too"
