Pastor E.A. Adeboye, in a recent sermon posted by the RCCG, shared a fascinating anecdote about his past life as a boxer. He recounted how his coach emphasized the crucial role of a shield in boxing, stressing the importance of protecting one's head during a bout. Interestingly, he mentioned a notable exception to this rule - the legendary Muhammad Ali, whose unmatched footwork served as his shield. Adeboye expressed admiration for Ali's ability to evade attacks and maintain his flawless visage, making him a hero in the world of boxing. He concluded with a wise counsel, urging his listeners to stay vigilant and keep their shields up, unless they possess Ali's exceptional prowess.

He remarked, "In boxing, my coach taught me years ago. I told you I used to be a boxer; I know I don't look like one now. He warned us, Don't let down your guard; that's your shield, and when you go to battle against the opponent, make sure you're protecting your head. Keep your guards off.

"The only fellow we know from boxing in those days who never bothered about his shield up here (it's because he has his own shield on his legs) is the fellow known as Muhammad Ali because he has a footwork that is second to none. So when you're trying to get him, he doesn't bother; he's not wasting his time shielding because he knows he can float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.

If you know anything about boxing, he happens to be my hero. You won't find a scratch on his face. He doesn't allow anyone close to his face at all by using his legs. Now, if you're not Muhammad Ali, keep on your shield."
