Deputy Senate President Celebrates New Islamic Year, Calls for Support for President Tinubu

The Deputy Senate President congratulated Muslims and all Nigerians on the start of the new Islamic year, 1446 AH, which was declared to begin on July 7, 2024 by the Sultan of Sokoto. According to Daily Trust, Jibrin urged the people to embrace the Islamic teachings of compassion, peace, and unity with one another.

He reaffirmed the National Assembly's dedication to passing laws that will help address Nigeria's problems. Jibrin also called on citizens to continue supporting President Tinubu, expressing confidence that with this backing, Nigeria will achieve progress and prosperity for all.

He said, "As we celebrate the new Islamic Year, 1446 AH, let us reflect on the importance and historical significance of the Hijra and the overall teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and follow his examples.

“With our support at the parliament and the understanding of Nigerians, Insha Allah, the promised land is assured, where things will work for all.”

Additionally, the Kebbi state government designated Monday as a public holiday to mark the new Islamic calendar year, while the federal government plans legal action against the Daily Trust newspaper over a report on the Samoa agreement.
