According to the report from the Sun, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the September 21 off-cycle election in Edo State, has affirmed his commitment to the race, emphasizing that he will not be swayed by gossip. His primary goal, he stated, is to unseat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the Government House in Benin.

Okpebholo expressed his confidence in defeating the PDP candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo. He articulated his determination during a speech at the inauguration of his campaign council in Oredo Local Government, the area from which Governor Godwin Obaseki originates.

He said, “We will be taking a holistic approach to correct the decayed roads, schools and health infrastructure that have been left unattended to. If the Obaseki-led administration had built upon what the government of Adams Oshiomhole did, Edo would have been competing with a state like Lagos in terms of development."

“Our mission is to, from day one, hit the ground running and make Edo a better place, A place we can actually call our own, a place that everybody will be happy to see,” he stated.

Senator Matthew Urhoghide, the Director-General of the Okpebholo Campaign Council, echoed this optimism, expressing his belief that the APC would secure victory in the upcoming governorship election.
