Obaseki Took Sitting Of Edo Legislators To Gov't House Under Wike's Suggestion -Hon Washington Osifo
A Nigerian lawyer and former lawmaker, Honourable Washington Osifo, has made allegations regarding the political maneuvering of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Osifo claimed that during a political crisis in Edo State, Wike advised Governor Godwin Obaseki to move the legislative sessions to the Edo Government House.
According to Osifo, this advice is now backfiring on Wike as he faces a similar situation in Rivers State.
Osifo pointed out that 14 elected members of the Edo State Assembly were denied their chance to be inaugurated and take their seats, which he attributes to Wike's influence.
He suggested that someone might be guiding Governor Sim Fubara on how to handle his ongoing conflict with the 27 lawmakers in Rivers State.
During a TVC interview, Osifo explained, ''The reason why Wike said Godwin Obaseki was ungrateful to him was because Godwin did not thank him in a proper manner, which he thought, as a co-governor, he ought to. Therefore, he betrayed him."
"And in some of the ways Wike helped Obaseki, he did mention that he helped him to ensure that he stabilized the state by ensuring that 14 House of Assembly members never found their way into the assembly."
"When we do things, we must be very careful. When you see what is happening in Rivers State today, you can say that somebody is teaching the governor whatever he's doing in the state."
"Obaseki took the sitting of the Edo Legislators to Government House under Wike's suggestion. Wike is reaping the seed he sowed in Edo State."
The Assembly members in Edo State were never given the opportunity to be inaugurated, talk less of vacating their seats.''
