Man who used cutlass to rob victim of phone arrested while attempting to format, unlock it

A young man who was said to have used a cutlass to rob a victim of his phone has been arrested by men of the Niger State Police Command while he was attempting to format and unlock the phone, the command announced today, Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

The state police command, which disclosed the incident on its Facebook wall, gave the name of the man as Aliyu Usman, aged 25 years, adding that he was arrested by men of the command after he reportedly threatened a victim with a machete and robbed him of his phone.

According to the report, following a complaint lodged by the victim at the station, the police operatives from Badeggi Division in the Katcha Local Government Area of the state began investigation and this led to the arrest of the man while he was attempting to format and unlock the phone in the town.

The command wrote: "He could not give a satisfactory account of the phone when questioned and he was suspected to have robbed the victim of the handset with a cutlass."

The command added that he had given more useful information to the police operatives and he is expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
