Prominent PDP member Segun Showunmi has taken to social media to question President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's stance on potentially severing the longstanding accord between the northern and southern regions of Nigeria. Reflecting on Tinubu's political trajectory and aspirations for the presidency, Showunmi expressed doubt regarding whether Tinubu remains true to the principles he once admired.

In his post on his official X account, Showunmi raised concerns over what he perceived as Tinubu's betrayal of former allies such as Governors Nasir El-Rufai and Yahaya Bello, who had thrown their support behind Tinubu during the 2023 elections. Showunmi's query to Tinubu serves as a poignant reminder of the complexities inherent in political alliances and the expectations of loyalty and reciprocity.

Moreover, Showunmi emphasized the importance of addressing historical grievances from the Awolowo era with other tribes, advocating for equitable representation and governance opportunities for individuals from the Southeast. In invoking the names of respected leaders such as Olusegun Obasanjo and Pa Adebanjo, Showunmi underscores the collective call for fairness and inclusivity in Nigeria's political landscape.

With a direct question posed to Tinubu, Showunmi challenges the potential repercussions of disregarding the support extended by allies from the northern region, particularly in light of past electoral contests against figures like Atiku and Kwankwaso.

According to his question to Tinubu; "Since you are now behaving as though you won't respect people who supported you to the max, especially against their brothers Atiku and Kwankwaso, will you now shatter a long-term understanding between the Yorubas and the North?"

Ultimately, Showunmi expresses confidence in Tinubu's ability to navigate and resolve the perceived "mess" at hand, urging him not to make his future needlessly difficult by forsaking the support of erstwhile allies.
