Sule Lamido, the ex-minister of foreign affairs of Nigeria and former governor of Jigawa State, linked the former Katsina State governor's move to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) with the historical political landscape of the region.

Vanguard mentioned that he highlighted how the All Peoples Party (APP), with support from former President Olusegun Obasanjo, governed Katsina prior to the PDP's victory in 2003. Nevertheless, the state returned to the control of the APC with the emergence of former President Muhammadu Buhari and his political associates.

Sule Lamido denied claims that politicians switched parties solely because they were afraid of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Lamido said, “I remember what Oshiomhole said: that when you defect to the APC, all your sins are forgotten. I think he wants to meet them. I don't think the EFCC is the reason he joined the APC."

"However, I do recall that Adams Oshiomhole, the previous national chairman of the APC, declared that "all your faults are forgotten when you defect to the APC."

"The leadership of the party was extremely unfair to Ihedioha, who first asked if Anyanwu would contest for governor, and when Anyanwu said yes, Ihedioha left it for him, and yet, Anyanwu still did not leave the post of National Secretary."

Lamido expressed concern about the internal workings of the PDP, particularly in Imo State, highlighting their unfairness. He utilized the contentious ruling by the Supreme Court to elaborate on how the judiciary exacerbated the problems faced by the PDP.
