Former Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has finally spoken out about the possibility of returning to the role, following the announcement of a vacancy by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), according to Sport Brief.

In a recent interview, Peseiro revealed that he has not been contacted by the NFF or the Ministry regarding a potential return to the team. "Neither the Ministry nor the NFF has reached out to me," he stated, putting to rest speculations about his possible return.

Peseiro, who is currently enjoying his holiday, said he is keeping up with matches, including upcoming games involving Real Madrid. His focus appears to be on his personal life and other interests, rather than a potential return to the Super Eagles.

The NFF has announced a vacancy for the role, and various candidates have been linked to the position, including Emmanuel Amunike and Michael Nsien. Additionally, three European coaches - Danny Bujis, Domenec Torrent, and Toni Conceicao - have made the final shortlist.

While Peseiro's return was a possibility considered by many, his denial of any contact with the NFF or the Ministry suggests that the door may be closed on that option. The search for a new head coach continues, with the NFF likely to make an announcement soon.

Only time will tell who will take the reins of the Super Eagles next, but one thing is certain - Jose Peseiro will not be returning as Nigeria's next coach.
