Kano: INEC Should Just Be Invited To Conduct Election For The Two Contending Emirs - Shehu Sani

Amid the current Emirship tussle going on in Kano Emirate, the former senator who represented the good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, Senator Shehu Sani, has suggested that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, should conduct election for the two contending Emirs, Emir Ado Bayero and Emir Lamido Sanusi.

Senator Shehu Sani made this disclosure in a post he made on his official X handle on Friday evening. He went on and noted that he can volunteer to serve as the returning officer, noting that BVAS Can be used aswell.

Senator Shehu Sani wrote: "INEC should just be invited to conduct election for the two contending Emirs, I can volunteer to serve as the returning officer. BVAS can be used."

The Emirship tussle in Kano Emirate yesterday entered another dimension, after a Federal High Court in Kano nullified the Kano Emirate Council Law, 2024, that scrapped four of the five emirates councils of the state last month and removed all the five emirs, including Aminu Ado-Bayero.

Shortly after the court ruling, the Kano State government released a statement, insisting that Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, remains the authentic Emir of Kano Emirate.
