He has been around for over two decades having been elected as Kajiado Central MP in a 2003 by-election following the death of cabinet minister Godfrey Parpai.
Katoo Ole Metito would go on to spend two decades in the National Assembly. In the process, he became one of the longest serving MPs in the country.
The highlight of his political career was when he was appointed as internal security minister in 2012 by the then President Mwai Kibaki following the death of Prof. George Saitoti in a helicopter crash.
By virtue of her sensitive portfolio, Ole Metito became one of the most powerful men around Kibaki.
In 2013, he was re-elected for a third straight term in Parliament and went on to become powerful men around the then President Uhuru Kenyatta.
After winning a fourth straight term in 2017, Ole Metito who holds a PhD in Business Adminstration from the University of Nairobi decided to throw the hat in the ring as he joined the race for Kajiado County Governor seat in 2022.
Even after securing the UDA party ticket and with the backing of the then Deputy President William Ruto, Ole Metito was whitewashed by the incumbent, Joseph Ole Lenku of ODM.
But as President Ruto made top government appointments, the former minister bounced back in style after being appointed as the new State House Controller to succeed Kinuthia Mbugua.
By the virtue of his position, he is the State House boss. He calls the shots at the seat of power as you will have to be cleared by him before meeting Dr Ruto. Yes, that is how powerful the 52- year is.
