Meet The Goalkeeper That Has Registered The Highest Number Of Assists In The EPL

Dozens of goalkeepers have provided assists in the English Premier League (EPL). However, only one of them has ever set up as many as 5 goals in the competition according to data obtained from Stathead. Who is this exceptional shot stopper?

The iconic goalie is Paul William Robinson. This English footballer registered five assists across 3 clubs in the English top flight before hanging his boots. Robinson's first time of doing it was in April, 2023 when he set Alan Smith up for Leeds second goal. Unfortunately, it was not enough to rescue a point as Blackburn went back with a 3-2 win. 

This goalie got his next assist in the colours of Tottenham in the 2004/05 season. Interestingly, he did it against Aston Villa match day 36 of the term. This time, his long kick located Frédéric Kanouté who netted to give Spurs a lead barely 6 minutes into the clash. The London outfit added 4 more goals to end the encounter with a 5-1 win.

Before leaving the North London side, this shot stopper added another assist to his name. This time, it was against Wigan in April, 2007. He set Robbie Keane up to grab an equalizer in the encounter. Meanwhile, he had registered a goal of his own earlier in the season when he netted against Watford from a direct free kick.

Robinson's last two assists in the English top flight were provided for Blackburn. He had one against Arsenal in April, 2009. However, this assist, which gave the Rovers a 4th minute lead, was not enough to secure a win as the Gunners netted 6 times to end the match with a 6-2 win. The following year, he set Christopher Samba up for another opening goal.

The goalkeeper that come closet to this Englishman is Pepe Reina. This Spaniard has 4 assists to his name in the colours of Liverpool. Two of these were registered in 2008/09 while he got one each in 2007/08 and 2009/10 seasons.
