Lawyer and human rights activist, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu has reacted after he watched a video of the Niger state governor, Umaru Bago ordering a security agent to assault an Islamic cleric.
The video was shared on the official X handle of SAHARA REPORTERS.
In the viral video, the Niger state governor was speaking at a gathering when he ordered the security personnel to bring the cleric out and discipline him. The governor commanded the security agent to slap the cleric and after he had done that, he told him to arrest him and deal with him very well.
Governor Umaru Bago said in the viral video;
"Slap him! I said slap him! Arrest him and deal with him very well".
Reacting to the viral video, Chidi Anselm Odinkalu said too many intoxicated people in powerful positions are enabled by dreadful followership in Nigeria.
Here is what he wrote on his official X handle;
"Too many intoxicated, insecure people in powerful positions in Nigeria are enabled by truly dreadful followership".
