Arsenal has reportedly exercised their option to permanently sign David Raya from Brentford.

The initial deal saw Arsenal pay £3m for a season long loan last year, with the choice to make the transfer permanent this summer.

Raya began as a backup but quickly became Arsenal's primary goalkeeper, starting with his debut in September's 1-0 victory over Everton.

His strong performances continued throughout the season, earning him the Premier League's Golden Glove award with 16 clean sheets in 32 appearances, contributing to Arsenal's second place finish in the league.

Despite his loan ending after the season, Arsenal was expected to secure Raya permanently.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal has now activated the £27m buy option in Raya's loan agreement.

The Spanish goalkeeper, who has been part of Brentford since 2019 and recorded 54 shutouts in 161 appearances, has already completed his move to Arsenal.

Raya, currently with the Spain squad at Euro 2024, awaits official confirmation from Arsenal in the coming days regarding the transfer.
