Lawyer sues Buhari, Emefiele, CBN, two banks over hardship he is facing in getting naira notes

A lawyer has sued President Muhammadu Buhari, the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, the bank itself and two other financial institutions over hardship he is facing in getting access to the country's currency from banks.

The lawyer, whose name is Uthman Isa Tochukwu, with the Twitter handle @UthmanTochukwu, disclosed in a tweet that he filed an originating summons over the matter on Monday, March 27 at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

According to him, he was demanding for the enforcement of his fundamental human rights to have access to his money lodged in banks as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

In the originating summon which he posted on his Twitter handle, he said, among other things, that he is currently facing hardship in getting his money kept in the banks and also asking the court to order the president and the CBN governor to make the old and new notes available to him and members of the public.
