Chidi Lloyd, the embattled chairman of Emohua local government area, has responded to a recent court decision. The Court of Appeal in Abuja dismissed an order from the Rivers State High Court.

This order had prevented Martin Amaewhule from acting as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. Additionally, the order had stopped 24 other Assembly members from accessing the legislative complex or performing their duties.

Additionally, the court had barred 24 additional Assembly members from entering the parliamentary building or carrying out their official responsibilities, which was also overturned by the Abuja Court of Appeal.

Channels TV posted a video in which Lloyd thanked the Court of Appeal for its ruling. He said that nothing could now prevent Amaewhule and his associates from carrying out their efforts to draft legislation that will help the people of Rivers State.

He also brought to everyone's attention that cases concerning the term or defection of state assembly members are outside the purview of the state high court, as stated in Section 272, sub-section 3.

According to Lloyd, "There is nothing in the way of Martin Amaewhule and his colleagues from continuing to make laws for the good governance of the good people of Rivers State."

"Recall that everybody knows that Section 272 sub 3 acts as a clause that stops the state high court from entertaining issues that relate to the defection or otherwise tenure of members of the state house of assembly."
