Chidi Lloyd, the Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, has welcomed the Court of Appeal's decision in Abuja, which overturned a Rivers State High Court order that had barred Martin Amaewhule from acting as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly and restricted 24 other Assembly members from performing their duties.

In a video statement, Lloyd expressed his appreciation for the appellate court's ruling, which paves the way for Amaewhule and his colleagues to resume their legislative duties, making laws that benefit the people of Rivers State. He also highlighted the limitations of the state high court's jurisdiction in matters related to state Assembly members' tenure and defection, as stipulated in Section 272, sub-section 3.

Lloyd's remarks come as a relief to the Rivers State House of Assembly, which has been embroiled in a leadership tussle. The Court of Appeal's decision is seen as a significant development in the ongoing legal battle.

In Lloyd's words: "There is nothing on the way of Martin Amaewhule and his colleagues from continuing to make laws for the good governance of the good people of Rivers State. Recall that everybody knows that Section 272 sub 3 acts as a clause that stops the state high court from entertaining issues that relates to the defection or otherwise tenure of members of the state house of assembly"
