According to a report from DailyTrust, Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed his position on the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

During his visit to Katsina state on Saturday, June 22, he met with influential figures, including former President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Dauda Lawal.

Despite the political tensions, Atiku avoided commenting directly on the PDP crisis in Katsina but shared insights on potential resolutions ahead of the 2027 elections.

He suggested that upcoming party congresses would allow members to elect their preferred leaders, thereby addressing the internal conflicts.

Atiku's visit has stirred further speculation about his political ambitions for 2027.

While in Katsina, he also met with Dr. Dikko Umar Radda, the governor of Katsina state, at the Emir of Daura's palace.

The PDP in Katsina has faced turmoil before, during, and after the 2023 general elections. This unrest led to former Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema defecting to the APC due to conflicts with the party's governorship candidate, Yakubu Lado, and other stakeholders.

Following Shema's departure, internal disputes continued, dividing the party further.

Daily Trust reported that Atiku emphasized the importance of the forthcoming congresses in resolving the PDP's issues in Katsina.

He stated, "There will soon be congresses, so people will elect whom they want to be their party leaders."

The PDP's internal strife included disagreements over the sale of congress forms, with a group called 'PDP major stakeholders' claiming they were denied access to the forms.

Despite efforts to address the issue, the state caretaker committee remained unresponsive.
