A man who said he was extorted of the sum of N300,000 by some policemen from the Lagos State Police Command at a road in the state has got his money back after the intervention of the Public Relations Officer of the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, it was gathered on Monday, July 1, 2024.

The man, whose X handle is @CharlyIkem, disclosed in his post that he got the money back on Monday from the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) of the command while the officers involved in the extortion had been identified and detained.

The man had written Hundeyin on June 23, narrating how the police officers arrested him around 11:24 p.m. at the Ago Palace Way and accused him of having Indian hemp in his car, an allegation he said he denied.

The returned money.

He wrote: "They put me in a yellow Danfo and drove away saying l should pay N500,000. I know this must be illegal duty, they had no official vehicle but l could pick out the name of one of the men from the uniform. They said they came from Ikeja division from their conversation."

He said after a few hours, they collected the sum of N300,000 from him through a Point of Sales in the FESTAC area and after he was allowed to go, he wrote the Lagos Police PRO about his predicament.
