Tomorrow, Tuesday, July 16th, Kenya is set for another round of protests led by the determined youth known as Gen Z. These protests aim to pressure the government to take accountability for the lives lost during previous demonstrations against the unpopular Finance Bill of 2024.

Despite President William Ruto taking drastic measures, including withdrawing the bill and firing almost his entire cabinet, Gen Z remains unsatisfied. They continue to call for justice and responsibility from the government. Activist Boniface Mwangi confirmed on Monday evening that the peaceful protests will proceed as planned until the government acknowledges and apologizes for the deaths of protesters.

However, there is bad news for Gen Z as new details have emerged about the police's plans for tomorrow's demonstration.

Popular Kenyan blogger Cyprian Nyakundi revealed on his official X handle that anti-riot police are considering closing major entry points to the Central Business District (CBD) if they see a large influx of people. This could pose significant obstacles for the protesters who plan to gather in large numbers to demand justice.

The government has acknowledged that at least 25 protesters died during the previous protests, though the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) reports a higher toll of 41 deaths and 360 injuries.

The eyes of the nation will be on the streets to see how the events unfold and whether the youth can bring about the change they so passionately seek.
